EDITORIAL GUIDELINES AND POLICIES
1. GENERAL EDITORIAL POLICIES
Before submitting your manuscript, please read these policies carefully. They apply to the Scientific and Humanistic Innovations through Novel Explorations (SHINE) Journal Publication. These guidelines uphold academic quality, research integrity, and ethical standards throughout the publication process.
2. ETHICAL STANDARDS
All journals under SHINE follow the ethical principles of the Content Review Committee on Publication (CRCP) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Author Confirmation
By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:
- All authors have read and approved the final version.
- The manuscript complies with SHINE’s editorial and ethical standards.
- The work is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
3. EDITORIAL DISCRETION
The Editorial Board reserves the right to accept, revise, or reject manuscripts based on quality, originality, and relevance.
Disclaimer
The views expressed in published works are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors, the SHINE Journal Publication, or its partner institutions.
Retractions
Articles violating research or publication ethics (e.g., plagiarism, falsification) will be formally retracted.
4. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
The SHINE Journal Publication upholds the highest ethical standards in research and publication. Authors are expected to comply with international norms for responsible conduct of research.
1. Research Integrity
Authors must ensure accuracy, transparency, and honesty in reporting their work. Falsification, fabrication, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.
2. Human and Animal Subjects
Research involving human participants or animals must include a statement of approval from an accredited ethics review board or institutional ethics committee. Informed consent must be obtained from participants.
3. Data Privacy
Personally identifiable information should be anonymized unless explicit consent has been provided.
4. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools
If AI tools were used in data analysis, writing assistance, or image generation, authors must disclose their use and ensure the final content remains the authors’ intellectual responsibility.
5. Authorship Responsibility
All listed authors must take collective responsibility for the integrity of the study. Guest or honorary authorship is not permitted.
5. ARTICLE PREPARATION GUIDELINES
1. Manuscript Requirements
- Originality: Manuscripts must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
- Language: English and Filipino (for Filipino Majors).
- Format: MS Word (.docx), single-spaced, Arial 11 pt font, 2.75 cm margins on all sides.
- Length: 5,000–7,000 words (excluding references), not exceeding 15 pages.
- File Structure: A single file containing Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
Two versions are required:

To qualify as an author, an individual must:
- Contribute substantially to the conception, design, data acquisition, or interpretation.
- Participate in drafting or revising the work critically.
- Approve the final version.
- Accept accountability for the integrity of the entire study.
3. Plagiarism Policy
All submissions undergo similarity checking through Lyceum of Alabang’s accredited plagiarism detection software.
- Acceptable similarity index: ≤15% (excluding references).
- Authors may revise up to three to five times to meet standards.
- Only compliant manuscripts proceed to peer review.
- SHINE adopts a developmental approach, guiding authors toward ethical compliance.
4. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
- Minor corrections are incorporated with an erratum notice.
- Major corrections result in a corrected version linked to the original.
- Retractions are issued for serious ethical breaches, with reasons publicly stated.
- All changes require approval from the Lead Editor and, when possible, from the authors.
6. CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Authors must disclose all financial or non-financial relationships that may influence their work, such as:
- Institutional or industry funding, grants, or consultancy fees.\
- Affiliations with entities related to the research topic.
Disclosures should be included in a “Conflict of Interest Statement” within the manuscript. When in doubt, authors are encouraged to consult their institution or the Editorial Office.
7. SUBMISSION PROCESS
1. Submission Platform
Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via the SHINE Research Journal Website.
2. Required Documents
- Blind and complete manuscript versions
- Copyright Agreement Form
- Ethics Clearance (if applicable)
3. Acknowledgment of Receipt
Authors will receive an email confirming submission within 5 working days.
Initial Screening
The Editorial Office screens manuscripts for format, plagiarism, and ethical compliance before peer review.
Communication
All correspondence will be conducted via the corresponding author’s email.
8. PEER REVIEW POLICY
SHINE implements a double-blind peer review to maintain objectivity and confidentiality between authors and reviewers.
Process Overview
- Initial Screening – Checks for compliance with formatting and ethics.
- Peer Review Assignment – At least two independent reviewers evaluate the paper.
- Evaluation Criteria: Originality, clarity, methodology, contribution, and relevance.
- Editorial Decision: Rejected, Accepted with Revisions, Accepted for Publication
Review Timeline
The review process takes approximately 6–8 weeks. Feedback and decisions will be sent via email.
Editorial Independence
Editors ensure all manuscripts are judged solely on academic merit, without discrimination or external influence.
9. PUBLICATION PROCESS
- Plagiarism Check – Conducted prior to review.
- Editorial Decision – Based on reviewer recommendations.
- Acceptance and Copyediting – Accepted papers proceed to formatting and linguistic editing.
- Withdrawal after acceptance is not permitted.
- Proofreading – Authors must review proofs and respond to editorial queries promptly.
- Final Submission – The final approved version is endorsed by the Editorial Board.
10. PUBLICATION FEES AND ACCESS POLICY
The Scientific and Humanistic Innovations through Novel Explorations (SHINE) Journal Publication is a no-fee, open-access publication.

SHINE promotes equitable knowledge dissemination by removing financial barriers for authors and readers.
All articles are freely accessible online under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license.
11. COPYRIGHT AND LICENSING
- Authors retain copyright while granting SHINE the non-exclusive right of first publication.
- All works are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, allowing reuse, adaptation, and distribution with appropriate acknowledgment.
12. POST-PUBLICATION POLICIES
- Authors are encouraged to share their work in institutional repositories or academic platforms.
- Any ethical or factual concerns post-publication will be investigated under COPE guidelines.
- Errata, corrigenda, or retractions will be issued transparently as necessary.
