ABSTRACT
Educational games can play a vital role in improving one’s learning experience; This study examined the physical strains and mobility challenges experienced by parents carrying toddlers while visiting the Manila Zoo. It aimed to understand how these two factors; physical strains and parents’ mobility influence their overall experience and to offer recommendations for enhancing service quality and creating a more family-friendly environment. A quantitative research design was employed, with data collected through surveys of parents visiting the zoo. Findings revealed significant physical discomfort among parents, particularly in the form of back pain, shoulder pain, and muscle fatigue. In addition, mobility limitations including reduced speed, frequent rest stops, and the need for mobility aids were found to impact their enjoyment and ease of movement within the zoo. Most respondents were aged 28–37, predominantly female, and many were from single-parent households. Despite these challenges, the zoo remained a favored destination across various socioeconomic groups. While parents appreciated existing amenities, high discomfort scores indicated the need for improved support services. Suggested enhancements included stroller rentals, upgraded rest areas, and parent assistance programs to help ease physical burdens and mobility limitations. The data also showed how parents adapt by pacing themselves and taking breaks to manage their children’s needs effectively. Although crowd management efforts were positively received, moderate satisfaction levels with rest areas and seating highlighted a key area for improvement. In conclusion, while Manila Zoo provides a generally positive experience for families, targeted improvements in facilities and amenities are essential to better support parents with toddlers.
